Final report on the assessment of Hazardous Waste in the Areas around Union Carbide India Ltd., Bhopal
M/s. Union Carbide India Ltd. (UCIL), manufactured carbamate pesticides and the associated intermediate chemicals at their Bhopal unit from 1969 to 1984. The solid, semi-solid, liquid and tarry wastes generated during the manufacture of pesticides and associated chemicals were dumped by UCIL within their premises from 1969 to 1984. Towards an Emissions Trading Scheme for Air Pollutants
The Minister today released a discussion paper on an emissions trading scheme for air pollutants in India. The paper has been prepared by experts from J-PAL, MIT and Harvard University at the request of the Ministry. NEAA cancels environmental clearance to Vedanta bauxite mining
The National Environment Appellate Authority (NEAA) cancelled the environmental clearance given to Vedanta’s bauxite mining in the Niyamgiri hills of Orissa. The authority has now referred the matter to the Union environment ministry for final consideration.
