Less youth getting higher education in India, rues Moily

Union Minister of Law and Justice, Veerappa Moily today said the percentage of youth getting higher education was very less in the country.

“Only nine to 11 per cent of students get an opportunity to go for higher education. However, 45 to 85 students in developed countries get higher education,” he said. Moily was addressing the convocation ceremony of National Institute of Technology here. He appreciated the fact that India produces more number of engineers as compared to any other country.

“America produces 70,000 engineers annually, Europe 10,000 while India gets 5,00,000 every year of which 30 per cent are computer engineers,” he said. He asked students to concentrate on research.
